Solo founder DX is unmatched.
I shipped 4 services and a Postgres in 90 minutes. The visual editor + per-second billing means I scale up for traffic and down for nights. Best fit for the bootstrapped builder.
Infrastructure as a developer-experience product
Railway makes deploying services and databases feel like editing a Figma. The visual editor is genuinely good, not a gimmick. Per-second pricing for compute is the most fair model in the category. Trade-off: smaller scale ceiling than Render or AWS, fewer regions, and the visual editor metaphor breaks down at >20 services. Best for solo devs and small teams that value DX over absolute control.

Templates got us shipping day one.
Started from a Postgres + Django + Redis template. Customized in 30 minutes. Railway shipped a working architecture before we wrote our first endpoint.
For 5 services it's perfect. For 50, reconsider.
Visual editor is great until your topology is complex. We're hitting that ceiling and considering Render or fly.io. Through 5 services it was the right call.
