Trade-off: at high volume the percentage fees are real money, and certain markets/payment methods (Asia, EU local methods) require paired vendors. Best for any company that takes payments online and wants the integration to work.

Connect for marketplaces is the right primitive.
Built a marketplace with payouts to 50+ countries. Connect handled KYC, payouts, tax forms. Building this from scratch would have been a quarter of work.

Got Stripe down to 2.4% + $0.20 at our volume. Still our largest variable cost. Considered Adyen but the integration tax wasn't worth the basis points.
